Associate Lawyer – Dispute Resolution

Papantoniou & Papantoniou LLC, a leading Nicosia-based law firm, is inviting applications from qualified lawyers seeking to develop their practice within a demanding and intellectually rigorous dispute resolution and litigation environment.

Established in 1987, the firm advises domestic and international clients across a broad spectrum of contentious and advisory matters, including civil and commercial litigation, construction and infrastructure disputes, administrative law, employment law, debt recovery, and corporate and commercial matters.

The successful candidate will join the firm's Dispute Resolution Department and work closely with the firm's advocates across a varied caseload, with particular emphasis on court work, legal drafting, research and the effective conduct of ongoing matters.

The Role

We are seeking a lawyer who is organised, dependable and capable of contributing meaningfully from the outset.

The role will involve direct participation in litigation and court proceedings, while supporting the firm's broader dispute resolution practice and progressively assuming greater responsibility for matters appropriate to the candidate's experience.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Appearing before the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus in procedural and substantive matters appropriate to the candidate's level of experience.

  • Assisting in the conduct of civil, commercial and other contentious matters.

  • Drafting pleadings, applications, affidavits, correspondence and other court documents.

  • Conducting legal research and preparing case analyses and legal opinions.

  • Assisting with the preparation of hearings, evidence and case strategy.

  • Managing procedural steps and ensuring the timely progression of ongoing matters.

  • Handling smaller matters under appropriate supervision and progressively assuming responsibility for an independent caseload.

  • Assisting other members of the Dispute Resolution Department where necessary, including with court appearances and urgent procedural matters.

The position is particularly suited to a lawyer who wishes to gain substantial practical exposure, develop courtroom confidence and build a strong foundation in litigation and dispute resolution in Cyprus.

Candidate Profile

We welcome applications from newly qualified lawyers and lawyers in the early stages of their professional careers.

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Admission to the Cyprus Bar Association and eligibility to practise as an advocate in the Republic of Cyprus.

  • A strong academic background from a recognised and reputable university. Postgraduate qualifications will be regarded as an advantage.

  • Fluency in Greek and English, written and oral, at a standard suitable for court advocacy, legal drafting and client correspondence.

  • Strong analytical and legal research skills.

  • Precision and confidence in legal drafting.

  • Strong organisational ability and the capacity to manage competing priorities and demanding deadlines.

  • Sound judgment in handling confidential and privileged information.

  • A professional, responsible and collaborative approach to legal practice.

  • A willingness to assume responsibility and develop through direct involvement in live matters.

Previous experience in civil or commercial litigation will be regarded as an advantage but is not essential where the candidate demonstrates strong aptitude, judgment and commitment.
